Medium Grits Sanding
How do I clean my table in between sandings?

So I'm restaining my table and was told to use mineral spirits when I'm done sanding. I was wondering if it should be used when I switch from medium grit to fine, or just at the very end.
Any advice or links would helpful, thanks!

You only need to clean the table with mineral spirits if it has been oiled...such as lemon oil....and then only if you are using lacquer to finish it with. Oil left in the wood causes 'fisheyes' in the finish if you spray it with lacquer. That is why you wash it down with mineral spirits. If you are going to use polyurethane as a finish you really don't need to wipe it down. If you do...do it just before you sand it for the last time. Then after you do that last sanding blow off the surface good...then wipe it down with a 'tack cloth'. That picks up any dust left on the table to give you a smooth finish. You can buy the tack cloth at any well name paint store.
