Soil Stack and new Soil pipe, help please!!?
I am in the process of having a go at fitting my own bathroom, I am moving the toilet from one side of the room to the other so instead of boxing up the soil pipe around the room, I have core drilled a hole straight out of the house with the hope of extending my existing soil pipe on a little (approx 1 metre). However when I have gone outside and looked at my soil stack and existing pipe I think I may have drilled my new hole a little low so when the new extended soil pipe is fitted it will more or less be straight rather than a slight slope down to soil stack. How do I get around this problem? Can I move the joint in the soil stack to the soil pipe a bit further down and if so how do I do this? What is the process of attaching the new soil pipe to the stack? Thanks very much!! Please give me as much info as possible cos I have never done this before!
I need full answers please, whether the fixings are push fit or glue and how to sort out my straight rather than sloping soil pipe!!!!
Hi,
First confirm that you have drilled the hole to low, over that distance a fall of an inch will be plenty. I am assuming that you have PVC pipe with this answer. If the existing stack is solvent welded replace with the same as follows; get the same branch that you have now and any bends that you need as well as an additional collar. Cut the stack below the existing branch allowing for the new additional collar and not forgetting to lose the inch or so that you have lost from the new hole, make it less if you have any doubts as more fall won't hurt. rebuild the stack using the new components as required. Solvent weld pipes have smaller looking fittings where as push fit as a bit bulkier. If it is push fit you will need a rasp to sham-fer any new edges before you put them together and some silicon lubricant to help push them together.
