Problems setting up Netgear wireless router with Comcast High Speed Internet?

I recently switched from SBC DSL to Comcast High Speed Internet but I am having problems getting the wireless router to work. When I connect the cable modem directly to the computer(modem to computer, cable to modem), everything works perfectly fine. However, when I connect with the router (modem to computer, modem to router, cable to router), the connection is completely lost and won't even work on the main workstation. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I am using a Netgear WGR614 v5 wireless router.
Modem is a Motorola SB4200 SURFboard cable modem.

I called Comcast but they couldn't help out one bit. Also, I am having trouble accessing the router manager because 192.168.1.1 is the address but it does not work either. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
The modem is connected to the cable jack at all times.

You need to connect in the following way :

Modem to Router, Cable to Modem, Router to PC(s)

It should work fine !!
Enjoy !!

Anyways,

If you need any help, just e-mail me at jeetp_26@yahoo.com
